Agribusiness Startup Launch (2021–Present)

Context:

Beyond corporate and consulting roles, Kennedy co-founded AgriSmart Company Ltd in 2021 – an agribusiness venture aimed at innovating South Sudan’s agriculture value chain. The startup’s mission was to introduce sustainable practices and connect local farmers to markets, ultimately improving food security and livelihoods.

Action:

As a co-founder and board member, Kennedy led the development of AgriSmart’s business plan and investment strategy. He worked on defining the company’s mission and vision, ensuring they aligned with national agricultural development goals. Kennedy was instrumental in raising initial seed capital, pitching to investors and development funds by highlighting AgriSmart’s unique value proposition. He helped assemble the core team, bringing in experts in agronomy and supply chain, and established strong governance structures for the young company. Additionally, he provided mentorship in operational planning – from adopting digital tools for farm monitoring to creating market linkages with buyers and distributors in the region.

Result:

Under Kennedy’s strategic guidance, AgriSmart successfully secured its initial funding and launched pilot programs in sustainable farming. The company has built partnerships with local cooperatives and gained support from agricultural development programs. Early outcomes include improved yields for participating farmers through better inputs and training, and the creation of new market channels for produce. AgriSmart’s ongoing growth showcases Kennedy’s commitment to private sector–led development – demonstrating how entrepreneurship and strategic planning can drive economic progress while addressing social needs in South Sudan.
